VISA in Thailand can be really tricky for someone, who is dealing with it for the first time.
Basically, you do not need visa agency to enter Thailand.
There is even quite extensive list of countries, whose residents do not visa at all and can visit Thailand for 30 days (some now 45 days) based on “visa on arrival”, meaning just a stamp from immigration officer at the arrival to the Thai airport.
For other tourists, visa is required. Details vary from country to country, but for a reasonable fee, you can get 30 days or 60 days visa from Thai embassy in your country. Respectively, since the Covid, it is all done online, via this page:
Almost everyone can extend her / his stay in Thailand for another 30 days by visiting Immigration office.
Almost every tourist, entering Thailand on tourist visa, no matter how many days they are valid for, can extend her / his stay in Thailand for another 30 days just by visiting Immigration office.
You usually do not need any special documents, just your passport, copy of BIO page and visa stamp page from your passport and a photo.
Last known price for such an extension is 1900 Thai baht.
Extension can be granted the same day or next day, depending on amount of clients.
Do not be afraid to go to Immigration, it is their daily job, they are friendly, they are used to all the questions and will give you advice if needed.
If you fell in love with Thailand (or Thai lady) or you have found a job or business and you want to stay in Thailand longer, you will need proper visa (and a work permit for working legally). You have various options:
a) do a visa run and come back to Thailand every 30 days, which is not only inconvenient, but also risky, because this area is not legally clear, immigration officers usually do not like this practice and it is always on a a decision of individual immigration officer if you will be allowed back to Thailand. We strongly do not recommend this, although you can find “agents” offering this service. If you insist to do so, please check with us, we can recommend you a reliable agency we know.
b) travel back to your country and apply for visa of your choosing at Royal Thai embassy in your country (respectively online at https://www.thaievisa.go.th), this is the most convenient and easiest way how to get visa to Thailand and you can do it by yourself (in most cases), without need for a visa agency. Anyway, if you get stuck in the process, there is a button at the end of this page and we are ready to help you even with this problem.
c) apply for student visa or volunteer visa, which is not that easy, but we can smoothly manage it for you
d) apply for business visa by setting up a business. This type of visa demands much more paperwork and takes a little longer time to be processed, but they allow you to apply for work permit to work in Thailand. This is our visa specialty and we have a solid track record providing this service to our clients.
e) there is a variety of other visa types, of which the most common is “non O visa” to your relatives or family, special tourist visa and retirement visa for individuals older than 50 years. As a reputable visa agency, we cover all this visa types and we will recommend the right visa for you within our free consultation.
f) new 10 year special visa for selected group of wealthy investors or international IT specialists are now available in Thailand, but there is not an established process yet, it is a developing story right now.
I came to Thailand on tourist visa for a vacation, but as a consequent of events, going on in Ukraine, I decided to stay here for a longer time, doing my online job and enjoying the Phuket beaches at the same time. Getting the visa became a nightmare quite quickly, especially when I am still struggling with English. After 2 or 3 encounters with local “visa agencies”, my friend recommended me these iura guys and it was a real salvation for me. Thank you, guys.
